State Team News from Camp Perry 1999:

The California State team fielded two teams this year during the team matches. We earned a second place and a fifth place in the six man team match, in addition to this one of the California state junior teams set the new national record in the two man Whistler boy team match. The two boys that set the record are brothers that shoot in the High Master class one of which is a previous National Junior Champion, and the other brother was National Junior Champion this year. As for additional accomplishments for California shooters, our coach of the California state senior team was National Senior Service Rifle Champion. Another one of our team members, Dr. Erik Kirk of Santa Maria become a member of the Elihu Root team by being one of the top five scoring people in the aggregate between the Presidents One Hundred Match and the National Trophy Individual Match. All said and done, I would say that the State of California made quite a name for herself at the National Championships this year!
